PUPIL ASSESSMENT OFFICER

-£17,161 - £19,126 pro rata
24 hours per week
Term time plus one week
An opportunity has arisen within our assessment centre, for the right person to support pupils who access this provision. The programme operates from Horatio House, Southtown Road, Great Yarmouth.
The assessment centre supports the Pupil Placement Panel (PPP) process in Great Yarmouth.
Significant numbers of youngsters arrive in Great Yarmouth during the school year. For most they have very good records from their previous school and are able to transfer directly in to a local school.
For some though very little is known. For others, their records indicate that they have struggled at their former school in the recent past.
The assessment centre takes these pupils in for three sessions per week, usually for half a term and explores with them their ability to settle into education in Great Yarmouth.

We see many pupils from overseas, both EU and non EU countries, without any information as to how theyve done in their home countries. We help build a picture of their academic ability, their understanding and knowledge of English, cultural differences and where necessary, provide introductory support around language acquisition.

The pupils who arrive with records showing difficulties are offered a similar programme but a picture is built of the extent of their needs.
Overall this helps the PPP ensure that a balanced number of pupils with challenges are allocated to each school.

Part of the role includes attendance at the half termly PPP to present reports on each child to secondary heads and answer any questions they may have.

The post is one of two Pupil Assessment Officer roles at Horatio House. You will work closely with and alongside an existing post-holder.
For a job description or person specification please call Trevor Cockburn, Manager on 07711618801.

The closing date: 25 April 2014
Interview date: 6 May 2014

-Required: May 2014
Salary: £11,768 - 12,595 per annum
33 hours per week term time only

Taverham High School is a popular and successful 11-18 mixed comprehensive school in Norwich and is a great place to work. Our Investors in People status was reconfirmed earlier in 2013. The school was substantially redeveloped under the PFI in 2007 and we became an academy in April 2013. Our facilities are first-class and we work closely with the PFI contractor to maintain this situation.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and resourceful technician to join a successful team of teachers and support staff to undertake a variety of support work, including construction with wood, metals, plastics and electronic projects. As a team we have an established ethos of sharing resources and mutual support.

The role of the technician will be to prepare materials and resources to support students and teachers in preparation for and during lessons. An ability to maintain machinery and equipment, and preferably to use a range of ICT software and hardware would be preferable. Training will be available for specific resources.

We are seeking a technician who has a positive attitude, flexibility and patience. Some flexibility with working hours may be possible but a regular commitment during core school hours/term time is essential.

Applications are equally welcome from candidates with experience in a similar role in schools or outside the school environment.

To receive an application pack either:
email personnel@taverhamhigh.norfolk.sch.uk;
visit the school website;
contact Sharon Higenbottam at Taverham High school (01603 860505).

The appointment is subject to regulatory checks including an enhanced-level DBS check.
