TEACHER-TRAINERS NEEDED BY THE E-LEARNING SERVICE AND A.C.T. (ACCESS TO COMPUTERS & TECHNOLOGY)

-The E-Learning Service provides education to pupils who cannot be catered for in mainstream school because of illness, injury, exclusion, refusal, teenage pregnancy or because they are following an alternative curriculum.

ACT supplies computers to young people in the care of the Local Authority who are between the ages of 6 years and 18 years to support their continued learning.

Both Services will be expanding their provision in the new academic year and are seeking to recruit teachers who would be interested in working on a supply basis as teacher-trainers. Work would be paid on an hourly basis and teacher-trainers will be able to dictate how many hours and when they would be available each week on a very flexible basis.

Successful candidates may be asked to visit on behalf of the E-Learning Service or ACT or both Services. Work for the E-Learning Service will mainly involve an initial training visit to a pupil home to demonstrate how pupils (and their parents/carers) can access and return lessons online. There may also be occasional follow-up visits to review progress and a number of visits to supervise pupils who are completing GCSE controlled assessments.

Work for ACT will involve visiting young people either in their home with carers or in residential units and connecting the laptop to the internet and ensuring the young person (and carer) are confident with the logging on process and use of computer, explaining the safety and security protocols and supervision of an attitudinal survey with follow up visits.

Lone-worker training and child protection training, along with a complete induction will be offered to all teacher-trainers.

The hourly pay rate is set at level M1 of the supply scale (currently £17.15) and mileage costs along with some travel time will be covered.

You must have QTS and access to a car, will be able to offer day-time and/or evening/weekend/holiday working (1 or 2 days per week) and will have good technical and very good communication skills. Because of the need for teacher-trainers in the West, South and East of Norfolk, applicants from these areas will be particularly welcomed although teachers living elsewhere are also encouraged to apply because of the growing demand overall.

If interested, please send a CV to the E-Learning Service Manager, Jackie Thompson at Jackie.thompson@norfolk.gov.uk
